My Swedish Grandma's Almond Rusks

It’s Friday, (Oops! Sorry about that! Guess this released a day early), the day of the week I’ve designated for sharing posts about family/recipes/life. So, since starting this project in the month of December, it seems fitting to share some of my family’s traditional holiday goodies with you.

*Disclosure - I struggle with the idea of maintaining a connection to family traditions versus healthy eating to support longevity and limit the chance of disease. Especially since both of my parents died from terrible conditions, and my big brother has also been plagued with horrific health problems. These diseases may or may not have been prevented by eliminating some ingredients from their daily diets, specifically; refined grains, sugars, and fats. The following recipe (and others to follow) are shared, knowing they call for some of those ingredients. But I’m choosing, this year, to try to honor family traditions while finding healthier replacements for those items.

MY SWEDISH GRANDMA’S ALMOND RUSKS

This is not my photo, but it’s the best likeness of an Almond Rusk I could find. Visit TASTE OF HOME for their version of a traditional Almond Rusk.

This recipe is for an authentic Swedish Rusk, which is primarily intended to be served with coffee, like biscotti.
